I am so very glad to see this post. I believe food security is a very real fear for Americans, especially after the start of the COVID pandemic. I have had my own garden for 7 years, but really began to focus on preservation and long-term food storage in 2020. The best advice that I recieved as a new gardener was to start out small. I think it is super easy to want to buy all of the seeds and plant all of the things, but it is very easy to become overwhelmed. I started by growing a few tomatoes and peppers on the back deck, and then expanded to an in ground garden the following year. It’s very important to remember to do whatever you can with what you have. Every single step makes a difference.

So great that you highlighted this. I do believe we are going to be be seeing rising prices and supply chain issues are as new normal. We need to make educating the population on growing and preserving their own food top concern

My grandfather was a farmer. I ordered the heirloom variety pack and am looking forward to bringing farm to table into my home like I experienced when I was a child. I feel it’s more important now than ever.

It is absolutely essential that people start to grow their own food and learn how to preserve. You want to be able to at least sustain your family as much as you can before using outside resources!
