Growing Non-GMO Clear Crystal Alyssum Flower Seeds
Alyssum seeds are hardy and should be sown straight into the garden bed after the danger of frost has passed. Do not plant seeds or transplants outside until after the danger of frost has passed. For early spring blooms in cooler zones, germinate the seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost under a grow light and in warm soil, at least 60°F. Before transplanting outdoors, harden off the seedlings by gradually lengthening the time they spend outdoors. To increase the drainage of your soil, work compost, sand, or ground-up mulch into it.
Water the plants regularly, but ensure that the leaves and the top 1-2 inches of soil can fully dry between irrigations. Although it is not necessary, pruning off any branches whose leaves have completed blooming can encourage a more desirable and compact growth habit. In hot and arid climates, provide part shade and a coating of mulch at the base. Clear Crystal Alyssum flowers are considered to be some of the easiest flowers to grow directly from seeds. Blooming may decline in consistently hot summers, but continue strong in the cooling of the fall.
