Year of the Snake Chinese New Year Seed Assortment - 8 Pack
In Chinese astrology, there is a 12-year cycle that links each year to an animal sign. The year’s sign is said to influence the children born that year and what ideals are focused on throughout the year. So, if you were born in 2025, 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965, 1953, 1941, or 1929, you were born during the Year of the Snake. Celebrate your birth year by planting this seed assortment or gift this pack to someone who is a ‘snake.’

Growing the Year of the Snake Chinese New Year Seed Assortment
For Oriental Yard Long Beans, sow seeds directly into the ground in warm soil, spacing them 6-8 inches apart and placing them 1 inch deep. Provide a trellis or support, as the vines can grow over 10 feet long. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging, and harvest the beans when they are about 12-18 inches long for the best flavor. Harvest frequently to encourage continued production.
For Kyoto Red Carrot, sow seeds 0.25 inches deep in loose, well-drained soil, spacing them about 2-3 inches apart. Thin seedlings to maintain space and water consistently to prevent splitting. Carrots should be harvested when they reach the desired size, typically when bright red and firm. Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and prevent weed growth.
For Leisure Cilantro, sow seeds directly 0.25 inches deep in well-drained soil, spacing them about 6 inches apart. Cilantro prefers cooler temperatures and will bolt in heat, so sow successively for a steady supply. Water regularly, harvest leaves as needed, or allow the plant to flower for seeds (coriander). Harvest entire plants when they reach about 12-18 inches in height.
For China Gold Hybrid Chinese Cabbage, start seeds indoors and transplant seedlings 12-18 inches apart, or direct sow in well-drained soil 0.25 inch deep. Water consistently and provide full sun to partial shade. Chinese cabbage matures in about 60-80 days, and heads should be harvested when firm and full but before they split. Ensure proper air circulation to avoid rot or disease. This seed may also be grown and eaten as a microgreen.
For Red Beard Japanese Bunching Onion, sow seeds 0.25 inches deep and space them 2-4 inches apart. Water regularly and thin plants to ensure good air circulation. Harvest green tops as needed, or pull the whole plant once stems reach 12-18 inches tall. They are frost-tolerant and can be grown throughout cooler seasons.
For Song TJS65 Cauliflower, start seeds indoors and transplant them to well-drained soil 18-24 inches apart. Keep the soil consistently moist and provide full sun. Cauliflower heads mature in about 65-85 days and should be harvested when firm and fully formed. To prevent sunburn on the heads, blanch them by loosely tying the outer leaves over the heads. This seed may also be grown and eaten as a microgreen.
For Suiho Hybrid Chinese Broccoli, sow seeds 0.25 inches deep and space them 6-8 inches apart. Water regularly, and thin seedlings to allow enough room for growth. Harvest the leaves and flower stalks when they are tender, around 50-60 days after planting, before the flowers open. Regular harvesting encourages new growth and extended harvest periods. This seed may also be grown and eaten as a microgreen.
For Three Color Daisy Shungiku, sow seeds directly 0.25 inch deep, spacing plants 6-8 inches apart. Water consistently and provide full sun for best growth. Leaves can be harvested as soon as they are large enough, typically within 30-40 days. Shungiku is best when harvested young and tender before it flowers. This seed may also be grown and eaten as a microgreen.
